The reigning and defending English Premier League Champions Leicester City and the winners of the 2016 FA Cup in Manchester United battle for the Community Shield in the annual curtain-raising event for top-level football in England.

CpHERD2XgAAAJSOFor Leicester City this season will be the football equivalent of the difficult second album. Last season’s performance will be a tough one to follow especially with star midfielder N’Golo Kante leaving the club for Chelsea earlier this summer. Nigerian striker Ahmed Musa joined this summer for a club record fee of £16.6m from CSKA Moscow. Ranieri’s squad has played a series of International Champions Cup, which includes 4-2 defeat against Barcelona yesterday, a 4-0 holiday hamming against PSG, and a penalty shootout win against Celtic. Winning this Community Shield will convince their supporters that there are not a one hit wonder.

Manchester United and Jose Mourinho has been busy with the transfer market, and that puts them as contenders to challenge for the Premiership this season. They have acquired players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and have been strong contenders in the acquisition of Paul Pogba from Juventus. It’s time for United supporters to see their new squad and Mourinho play in their first competitive match of the new football season.

Team News: The only inactive player for the Foxes is Matty James, who is out with an injury. New signings, Hernandez, Mendy, and Ahmed Musa, Mendy could be in the starting XI.

Meanwhile, United have no inactive player; Ibrahimovic is expected to start in an attacking role with Rooney playing as another attacker. Mourinho could start new summer signings Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, though a reported world-record transfer for Paul Pogba has not yet been completed.
