Kylian Mbappe spares the hosts’ blushes with late equaliser in final World Cup warm-up. Julian Green gave USA the lead in the 44th minute after series of France errors. France fought to get back into the game but USA youngsters defended valiantly. Olivier Giroud suffers injury scare days before the World Cup

Olivier Giroud has suffered an injury scare days before the World Cup after a violent clash of heads with Matt Miazga in France’s friendly with USA on Saturday evening. The Chelsea and France striker was taken off in the second half with a bandage wrapped around his head while his opponent laid bloodied on the ground at the Stade des Lumieres. Spain 1-0 Tunisia

Spain ended their World Cup preparation in drab style on Saturday night They eventually found a way past Tunisia, with Iago Aspas getting the goal. Gareth Southgate and England were given plenty to chew on ahead of their departure to Russia as Tunisia flummoxed and frustrated Spain in Krasnodar before succumbing to a late Iago Aspas winner. The substitute spared Spanish blushes in the southern Russian city after being set up five minutes from time by Diego Costa. But for the vast majority of a lively affair England’s opening World Cup opponents were compact and cool in defence while proving a real threat on the break as they stymied Spain until the final ten minutes. Lyon announce Nabil Fekir will be staying

France forward Nabil Fekir will not be joining Liverpool and will instead be staying at Lyon, the French Ligue 1 club have announced. The two clubs had been discussing a deal for the playmaker worth 60m euros (£52.75m) – 55m (£48.35m) plus a maximum of 5m (£4.4m) add-ons. However, Lyon said on Saturday that talks about the potential transfer of their captain “had not succeeded”.

Play-maker Christian Eriksen celebrated his return to the Danish national team following the birth of his first child with a goal and an assist. First half was evenly matched with Denmark creating slightly more chances Yussuf Poulsen then broke the deadlock in fine style from outside the area Hosts then doubled their advantage as Christian Eriksen blasted one in.
